Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠This is a measure and value contract to supply all plant, labour and materials required to construct a concrete footpath approximately 770m long by 1.4m wide.

The Contract includes the following works:

  • Minor earthworks for footpath formation and kerb & channel, compaction and site reinstatement including top-soiling and grass establishment (hydrosoiling).
  • Construction of 1.4m wide concrete footpath.
  • Construction of Kerb & Channel.
  • Formalising minor stormwater drainage (pipe drains, catch pits, chambers, open concrete channels).
  • Provision for pole retaining and fencing.
  • Erection and maintenance of erosion and sediment control structures.
  • Mitigation measures against cement and pumice entering the stormwater systems and environment.
  • The alignment of the footpath shall be agreed on site with the Engineer and the Contractor is encouraged to suggest cost effective alternatives and innovation.

In order to achieve the above works, the Contractor must make provision for the following, but not limited to:

  • Apply for TDC for a CAR to carry out works with the local road reserve section, including traffic management plan approvals from TDC.
  • The provision to undertake all works in full compliance with the Taupo District Council Contractor Requirements.
  • The provision and maintenance of traffic control during the works, including pedestrian management and safety around work areas.
  • The provision and implementation of a health and safety plan, quality plan and programming including updates where required.
  • Locate existing services/drainage/infrastructure and reporting to Engineer actual layout prior to commencement of works.
  • Potholing existing services/drainage at prescribed locations to determine presence/location.
  • The provision to adhere to an accidental discovery protocol in the event of encountering an archaeological artefact.
  • Liaise with service/drainage authorities to locate and protect existing sewer, stormwater, water supply, gas, power and telecom cables.
  • Liaison with property owners as to period of works and advance disruption notices.
  • Saw cutting pavements, topsoil stripping, excavations, bedding, backfilling, compacting, testing and reinstatement.
  • Prepare electronic as-built drawings, including survey of the installed footpath and fences etc.

All works are to be in accordance with this Specification, or as directed by the Engineer.

The Contractor is to confirm the availability of all materials, plant, personnel and subcontractors at time of Tender. Any costs or delays in the contract that are due to the lack of availability should be incorporated into the submitted tender rates.
