Eltham Water Trunk Main Renewal

⁠⁠⁠The pipeline replacement shall be constructed adjacent to the existing trunk water main. The trunk water main begins at the Eltham water treatment plant (WTP) on Finnerty Rd, 2.3km west of SH3, and continues in a south easterly direction across private farm land to Templer St in Eltham.

1.2 BACKGROUND
The existing steel trunk water main is in poor condition and needs to be replaced. The existing trunk water main is 375mm diameter spiral welded steel to the north side of Climie Stream and is 300mm diameter spiral welded steel from the south side of the Climie stream to Templer St, and through to Clifford Rd in Eltham where it connects into 300mm diameter AC pipe.
The original pipe which crossed the Climie stream was decommissioned in 2008, and a 355PE pipe was constructed beneath the stream bed. The original pipe, steel pipe bridge and concrete bridge piers are still in place.

1.3 SCOPE OF WORK
The new trunk main is to be built roughly adjacent to the existing trunk main as indicated on the drawings. The northern most section of trunk main will connect to the WTP supply reservoir valve and extend in a south-easterly direction on the western side of the existing trunk main, to connect into the 355PE pipe at the Climie stream crossing.

The south most section of new trunk main shall connect into the 355PE pipe on the south side of the Climie stream, and will cross over to the west side of the existing trunk main 140m south of Cornwall Rd. The trunk main will continue to the end of Templer St, where it will be constructed in the western berm of the road. The trunk main will continue to Clifford Rd Eltham, where it will be connected into the 300mm diameter AC trunk main.

The scope of this Contract is for the supply of all plant, labour, materials and incidentals necessary to construct:

• 1,015m of 450mm outer diameter 382mm inner diameter HDPE trunk main from the Finnerty Rd WTP to the Climie Stream.
• 2,455m of 400mm outer diameter 340mm inner diameter HDPE trunk main from the Climie Stream to Clifford Rd in Eltham.
• Air Valve chambers inclusive of all valves and fittings.
• Scour points inclusive of valves, backflow preventers, fittings and manholes.
• Decommission and remove raw water bypass and other pipes at the WTP.
• Dosing and sample water chamber and re-connect to new main.
• Gate valves in chambers.
• Remove existing decommissioned 300mm steel pipe, steel pipe bridge and concrete piers across the Climie stream (PROVISIONAL).
• Reconnect rural water connections to new trunk main.
• Connect to WTP reservoir valve and existing AC main on Clifford Rd.
• Testing and commissioning.
