Waverley Council invites quotations for the carrying out of the Play Equipment Design, Supply, and Installation for Barracluff Park and Playground Upgrade in North Bondi. Consultancy services are to include, but not limited to:

• the supply and installation of proprietary playground equipment; and
• the design, engineering, play design risk and safety audit, play equipment design certification, documentation, fabrication, supply, and installation of bespoke play equipment.

This RFT includes the design development, detailed design, documentation, fabrication, supply, and construction/installation of the Council generated concept. The playground is located at Barracluff Park, North Bondi, located within 1.5km from the coastline and will need to withstand the harsher environmental conditions, including winds, saline environment, and fluctuations in temperature. The location is mapped as containing Class 5 Acid Sulfate Soils, the impact of which will be confirmed by a separate Geotech Report.

The scope of works will be delivered in stages from design development to construction/installation. The consultant team will be novated to the contractor awarded construction of the entirety of the park. Construction phase of works will be managed by Council's Project Management team, with design quality and compliance managed by Council's Open Space and Planning team.

The Consultancy Team will provide full service play equipment design, engineering, design risk and safety audit, play equipment design and safety certification, documentation, fabrication, supply, and installation of play equipment. The Consultancy Team is expected to liaise with Waverley Council Open Space Planning, Waverley Council Project Managers, and Waverley Council contracted engineers and awarded construction contractor to successfully complete the scope of works.

A consultancy team with previous experience in bespoke designed, fabricated and installed play equipment for the public realm is highly desirable.

The consultant is to identify in their response to this request for services all key personnel that may be required to complete the works described or implied by this Request for Quotation.

The Consultancy Team is to include as a minimum:

• Accredited Play Safety Auditor
• Accredited and Registered Structural Engineer

The Consultant is required to provide the following services as a minimum and may provide additional services if considered necessary and in that case, should clearly identify those services that are over and above those required below:

• Attendance at site meetings / inspections as required;
• Attendance at other miscellaneous meetings such as co-ordination, client presentation, authorities and/or any other meeting as reasonably required;
• Any other matters reasonably to be inferred from the scope of works or the nature of the Project.

The scope of services is separated into two main streams:

• Free Standing play equipment

Off-the-shelf proprietary play equipment to be installed independent of any custom structure. I.e. Swing Sets, Spinners, See-saws and Rockers.

• Bespoke design tower and cubby

Custom designed play equipment designed, and fabricated specifically for this project and not made available to any other buyer. Proprietary off-the-shelf components can be affixed to this custom designed structure to enhance the play experience of the tower. I.e. slides, fireman poles, interactive panels, rope climbing nets etc.
