Manurewa Residential Speed Management

⁠⁠⁠Manurewa is a residential suburb in Auckland that falls within the Manurewa Local Board. Residents have raised several road safety concerns in the area including the number of crashes and high vehicle speeds. There are several schools in the area, which results in a relatively high number of pedestrians and cyclists using the roads.

A review of crash records and vehicle speed measurements have confirmed the area has a relatively high crash rate and high vehicle speeds. As such the Manurewa area was identified as a high priority location for a Residential Speed Management treatment.

The project aims to reduce vehicle speeds on local residential streets in the Manurewa area by installing around 160 speed calming measures such as speed humps, speed tables (some with zebra crossings) and coloured threshold treatments. This will ensure a low speed environment across the area that will result in a safe environment for pedestrians and cyclists.

Alternative tenders for this work package are also permitted per Auckland Transport RFT terms and conditions Section 6.7 but must be accompanied by a conforming tender. Alternatives are restricted to Earthworks and Ground Improvements.

Tenderers should clearly highlight any alternative tenders and must also complete and submit the Alternative Tender Value Assessment Template that is included with this tender, along with any alternative tender non-price and price response templates.
