Technical Advisor Disaster Risk Management- Operations and Project Fiji

The New Zealand Government has partnered with the Government of Fiji and stakeholders t provide specialist technical advice and practical assistance t the Government of Fiji t discharge core Disaster Risk reduction Functions, (including planning, training, guidelines, exercises) and Disaster Risk Management functions (including projects, operations, coordination, communications, logistics, assessments, information management) that would support improved national and community-level resilience across Fiji

The Objectives of this role are t assist the Government of Fiji and stakeholders to:

•  Enhance Fiji government’s ability t discharge core functions in;
•  Disaster Risk Reduction, including planning, training, guidelines, exercises; and
•  Disaster Risk Management, including projects, operations, coordination, communications, logistics, assessments, information management;
• t improved national and community-level resilience across Fiji.
•  Enable Fiji t better coordinate and manage its many Disaster Risk Reduction functions / Disaster Risk Management functions partners though increasingly locally-led interactions at national and community levels.
•  Reduce Fiji’s vulnerability t the negative impacts of natural disasters, thereby protecting and enhancing Fiji’s social and economic development, and reducing its reliance on external assistance.
•  Support a strengthened DRR/DRM partnership between New Zealand and Fiji.

The initial assignment will be for 12 -months full-time (potential TW 12 month extension) with an anticipated start in January 2020, this role is located in Suva, Fiji, with travel t the provinces.
