Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council (QPRC) wishes to engage a suitably qualified consultant to provide Heritage Advisory Services for the Council and its community.

This service is part funded by the NSW Government through the NSW Heritage Grant Program and therefore subject to the terms and reporting procedures of the NSW Heritage Office.

The term of the engagement if for a period of approximately two years, commencing immediately and ending 30 June 2021.

The Heritage Advisor will be expected to work across the local government area (LGA), providing advice to Council's Land-Use Planning Team and the community on a broad range of heritage matters. This includes the state listed heritage town of Braidwood.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Review of development applications with a broad range of potential heritage impacts;
  • Review draft planning proposal requests/rezoning proposals with heritage issues;
  • Technical conversation advice;
  • Heritage significance assessment;
  • Providing technical, architectural and procedural advice to owners of heritage items and other members of the community;
  • Assist with the assessment of Local Heritage Grant and Special Heritage Grant applications as part of Council's Heritage Grant Funds; and
  • Respond to internal and external heritage enquiries.

There may also be the opportunity to undertake additional heritage project work within the scope of the position.

The successful candidate will be expected to have their own vehicle, with relevant insurance and will be required to use this vehicle to undertake their duties, including site inspections, attendance at meetings and similar. The successful candidate will also be required to have Public Liability Insurance to the minimum value of $20 million and Professional Indemnity Insurance to a minimum value of $5 million.

The successful applicant for this position will have experience and qualifications which meet the NSW Heritage Office's required for heritage consultants.
