BHP Brownfield Expansion (BFX) Project - BFX Surface Engineering - Combined Engineering Services

⁠⁠⁠BHP is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from contractors capable of completing detailed engineering and construction study works for the following scopes :

Grinding and Flotation
* optimise mill configuration and flotation equipment selection of the grinding circuit,
* conduct a grinding and flotation circuit finalisation trade-off study.

Non Process Infrastructure (NPI) – Water Study
* assessment of suitability of existing infrastructure and modelling and engineering study of the 42 Ml/day and 50 ML/day water requirement,
* investigate and confirm the BFX requirements for the fire system and potable water and investigate potential alternative water sources for BFX,
* conduct two trade off studies for water.

Non Process Infrastructure (NPI) – Power Study
* develop power demand curves for the BFX requirement,
* investigate the load management and load shedding requirements (275kV line) for BFX based on the power demands,
* develop power demands and standalone solutions based on the constraints analysis provided by the client.

BFX Surface Studies
* deliver concept level engineering for a low capital optimised business-as-usual scenario and for a capital efficient scenario which would form part of a large brownfields expansion project,
* this work is required for the surface plant section of Olympic Dam and will take note of particular constraints in the current plant including non-process infrastructure.

SPS Engineering Refresh
* refresh and consolidate the engineering, cost and schedule work completed to date incorporating changes in mine feed inputs, optimisation studies, test work data and a revised modular design strategy.

Acid Plant Options Study
* conduct an Identification Phase Study to BHP major projects requirements that reviews the best short, medium and long term investment strategy for the acid plant considering the existing operation, the planned sustaining capital investment on the existing plant and the near term growth plans.

Transport and Logistics Study
* Includes the transport, storage, and handling of increased products for operational requirements including both offsite and onsite storage facilities for post BFX,
* handling, transport and traffic logistics, staging and management of construction packaged and modular plant and equipment for a stick build construction methodology,
* production volume estimate and dynamic simulation model of all inbound and outbound products,
* conduct two trade off studies for inbound and outbound logistics’.

Modular Study
* identify and define the infrastructure scope required to facilitate a modularisation strategy and update the current BFX module plan,
* complete trade off studies to determine preferred module size, transportation route and infrastructure scope,
* develop a plan for offsite module fabrication including industry capability survey,
* develop design basis for all modularisation facilitation infrastructure,
* identify and quantify all the impacts of modularisation on the existing BFX project estimate.
