Tender Description

The New Plymouth District Council (the Client) has identified two sections of the stormwater drainage system that requires upgrading. The two sections are: Section 1: Devon Street West, New Plymouth, and Section 2: Maranui Street / List Street, Welbourn.

The scope includes the construction of new stormwater infrastructure by both open trenching and directional drilling, including connecting to existing stormwater assets, backfill, reinstatement and all testing. All work is to be completed as per the requirements of the engineering specifications, drawings and Health Safety, and Environmental requirements. The construction of the new stormwater infrastructure will need to be carefully planned and executed to minimise impacts on local residents, users of roads and the state highway, Pukekura Park operations and users and other utility operators.

NPDC is looking for a contractor that has expertise in stormwater construction and a Green Card holder with NPDC is preferred. This work will include hazardous work such as, working in trenches and deep excavations and working in a state highway roading corridor. The work also involves complexity of installation by directional drilling for one pipe section. Tenderers shall need to demonstrate a suitable track record for either themselves or a specialist subcontractor for such work.

NPDC is looking for a contractor that has proven construction industry Health, Safety and Environmental risk management capability in alignment with Worksafe NZ guidelines and best practices. Good communication with stakeholders and especially site neighbours will be particularly important. The contractor should have good collaborative attitude, fitting NPDC's values and have the ability to achieve high quality construction outcomes on two compact and complex sites.
