Queensland Resident Operated Retirement Villages Support Service

⁠⁠⁠The Department of Housing and Public Works (the department) has issued this Invitation to Offer to establish a service to assist 10 resident-operated retirement villages to:

* understand their responsibilities under the Retirement Villages Act 1999 (RV Act) and relevant laws
* obtain independent legal and financial advice about alternative corporate structures if they do not wish to be regulated by the RV Act (for example, de-register as a retirement village and operate as a community titles scheme)
* progress a resident-operated village’s decision to change corporate structure, including attending to any application, registration or other requirement, including seeking an exemption from the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 to restrict entry to the village to older people
* provide on-going assistance to resident-operators and residents to transition to a new corporate structure or continue to operate as a retirement village, including assistance to market and sell units and assist those operating as a retirement village to apply to QCAT to seek an appropriate order under s.171A of the RV Act if required.
