UHCC Rural & Residential Chapters Review - Urban Character Assessment & Design Guide

⁠⁠⁠Proposed Plan Change 50 will review residential and rural chapters of the Upper Hutt District Plan 2004. An assessment of residential character across the Upper Hutt urban area is required to inform the review of residential chapters, as well as the development of a subsequent Urban Design Guide.
The Residential Character Assessment a city-wide assessment of the urban area to identify and categorise residential character areas, identifying character boundaries, and unique features which exemplify particular areas. The results will have critical input into future land use controls, and the possible addition and/or expansion of density overlays and/or land use zoning.
The Urban Design Guide is to sit outside of the District Plan. It is intended to act as a pubic resource and to promote effective residential development and infill subdivision and intensification. This will seek to educate the public on various land use controls and provide examples of infill developments which maintain positive urban design principles.

Tenders close on 29 April at 2pm and must be physically submitted to council offices.
