Tender Description

12794 Ipswich City Council is seeking Tenders from suitably qualified and competent companies for the delivery of the Recreational Iimprovement project at Denmark Hill Reserve.

The Request for Tender is for the Design and Construction Services and is broken into three Separable Portions:
* Separable Portion A - Main Recreation Area
* Separable Portion B - Chelmsford Avenue Streetscape & Trailhead
* Separable Portion C - Optimised Carpark Area

The aim of this project is to ensure the ongoing sustainability and optimisation of Council assets by undertaking upgrades to Denmark Hill Conservation Reserve with a variety of new park infrastructure such as shelters and seating as well as landscaping and playground works. Council is seeking to engage a suitably qualified Contractor that can manage the delivery of the different aspects involved across various locations at Denmark Hill.

Three key areas were considered as having the most positive impact on the recreational value of Denmark Hill Conservation Reserve. These key areas are made up of part and/or whole sections of the master plan and a site plan indicating each area is attached.

The first key area within this initial project scope is the existing main shelter and associated facilities as the most important area to activate and upgrade due to its poor connectivity, lack of passive surveillance and the anti-social behaviours within this area. Additionally, the main linking pedestrian pathway to Quarry Street East has been nominated as part of this key area as all of these facilities support the new recreational area.

The second key area within this project scope is Chelmsford Avenue and Outridge Street streetscape upgrade and the trailhead down into the reserve which will connect the street to the main recreational area. The articulation of the street will provide a sense of arrival to Denmark Hill and present the reserve to the local community as a recreational destination. The upgrade of this area will enhance passive surveillance and safety in the reserve, provide recreational opportunities for community, hospital visitors and workers seeking respite and activate the edge of the reserve.

Thirdly, the final key area is the existing Quarry Street East car park upgrade and optimisation project with new line marking of individual car parking bays as well as the construction of a new DDA compliant car parking area adjacent to the existing toilet building.
