NSW Department of Industry -– Lands and Water (DoI) undertakes periodic maintenance dredging in the marked navigational channel between Pelican and Marks Point in Swansea Channel.
Recently there have been calls from the local community to redirect dredged sand from the channel to rebuild the sand bars at the southern end of Blacksmiths Beach near the entrance to Swansea Channel.
The plan for works involves loading of approximately 5,000 cubic metres of stockpiled dredged material located at LOT 2045 DP 823736 onto rear dump trucks haulage approximately 4km to the Blacksmiths Beach placement site. Material should be dumped at the placement site and mechanically reworked into the existing dune and nearshore area in accordance with the fill plan provided in the Drawings.
