Townsville Hospital Diversion Sewer Pressure Main

⁠⁠⁠Townsville City Council has been developing detailed sewer infrastructure planning reports that have assessed the performance of the existing sewer system and identify upgrades and/or new infrastructure to service the growing population of Townsville.

A draft sewer strategy has been developed for the Southern Suburbs Sewer System that encompasses most of the Townsville suburbs on the southern side of Ross River, including Douglas, Annandale, Murray, Idalia, Wulguru etc. The sewer strategy has confirmed that a section of the trunk gravity sewer system from James Cook University and the Townsville Hospital Site has significant capacity issues. These works have been proposed as a measure to overcome these capacity issues.

The works involve the construction of a DN400 PE sewer pressure main starting adjacent to the western entry roundabout at Townsville Hospital / James Cook University on Angus Smith Drive to MH 1/S21 located near University Drive and Yolanda Drive, Annandale. The starting point for the project will be an interconnection between the existing DN250 and DN225 PVC Pressure Mains from PS S1A and PS S10A.

An alternative design (involving changes to parts only of the main) is to be priced in addition to the conforming offer.
