Council has an ongoing requirement to provide subsidised personalised transport services throughout Brisbane through the Council Cabs and PPT initiatives. Council Cabs is the provision of a pre-booked, multi-hire transport service which is easy to use and appropriate to passenger needs. This service operates in 187 suburbs and localities across Brisbane providing return transport between resident’s homes and a local or district shopping centre. Passengers must be over 60 years of age, mobility impaired or a pension card holder.

Passengers pay a fixed fare for each trip with the balance of the full fare paid by Council. PPT provides wheelchair accessible maxi-taxis to operate on a continuous loop within eight catchment areas around Brisbane where users hail the services along defined routes. These routes are in areas where TransLink services are limited. Passengers pay a 'flag fall' for each trip. The difference between the 'flag fall' receipts and the cost of providing the service is then charged to Council.
