Lake Macdonald Dam Safety Upgrade – Construction Market Engagement
Lake Macdonald – also known as Six Mile Creek Dam - on the Sunshine Coast is being upgraded as part of Seqwater’s Dam Improvement Program. This is the first major upgrade of Lake Macdonald Dam since the dam was raised in 1980. It will involve relocation of fish, dewatering, building a new spillway and reconstructing the existing earth embankments to better protect against potential earthquakes and extreme flood events, while maintaining regional water supply, flood mitigation benefits and keeping the lake open to recreation into the future.
A design then construct delivery model is being used for this project with detailed design expected to finish by Q2 2019.
Seqwater intends to commence procurement for the construction works through a Request for Proposal by late November 2018 to select competent and experienced contractors to participate in an Early Tender Involvement (ETI) process during detailed design (April to June 2019) and intends to award a construction contract in Q4 2019.
