Tender Description

Scope of the Contract

Ergon Energy has over 70 operational locations in which the different categories of scrap metals are collected. The categories of Scrap Metal are Bare Copper, Covered Copper, Bare Aluminum, Covered Aluminum and other minor commodities.

This contract involves the purchase of scrap metal. The scrap metal is collected in Ergon’s 70 locations and then returned (by Ergon) to primary locations for collection by the Purchaser. Over 550 bins are required to meet this need across Ergon Energy network of depots. (Due to a number of factors, particularly space limitations, number of bins and work practices, most depots would operate with 5 bins in use at any one time to allow scrap to be sorted into covered aluminum, bare aluminum, covered copper, bare copper and steel)

Ergon Energy also has a need to dispose of Unserviceable Transformers from its electrical workshops based in Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Maryborough, Toowoomba and Brisbane (Banyo).

The Purchaser may periodically be invited to offer a competitive quote for the purchase and removal of Power transformer/s located on sites other than Ergon Depots but within the Ergon region.

This Contract has been arranged into three (4) “Separate parts” and these parts are as follows:
Separate Part 1 – The removal and purchase of Scrap Metal from Ergon Energy primary locations throughout Queensland; and
Separate Part 2 – The removal and purchase of Unserviceable Transformers and Switchgear from Ergon Energy locations throughout Queensland.
Separate Part 3 - The removal and purchase of Unserviceable Power Transformers from sites other than Ergon Depots.
Separate Part 4 – Hire of bins – The monthly hire of bins for the collection and transport of scrap metal bins.
