The project aims to provide fit-for-purpose, contemporary healthcare facilities as part of a comprehensive infrastructure solution intended to address deficiencies around condition and functionality of priority Joint Health Command facilities, providing primary health and associated health care to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel around Australia.
The works involved include construction services for a range of new build and refurbishment of existing health centre solutions. It will include demolition of some existing health centres.
The existing health centre is located at Swartz Barracks and will be decommissioned, and a new health centre will be constructed closer to the flight line. The new health centre will be constructed at a new site within Swartz Barracks, on which a records store currently stands. The records store is to be demolished, and the new health centre is to be built based on a fully documented design.
The existing OAKHC will also be demolished under the contract with the existing facilities to continue to operate until the new health centre is fully operational. OAKHC will be a single storey health centre building that is approximately 1100 m2 and will be a steel framed structure with a steel roof and will include services and finishes typical of modern health facilities. An additional approximately 800 m2 will be allocated to carparking. It will be a comprehensive and modern health facility, similar to that of a General Practice Super-Clinic.
