Joint Health Command Garrison Facilities Upgrade Project – Head Contract (HC-1 2003) Townsville QLD

⁠⁠⁠The project aims to provide fit-for-purpose, contemporary healthcare facilities as part of a comprehensive infrastructure solution intended to address deficiencies around condition and functionality of priority Joint Health Command facilities, providing primary health and associated health care to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel around Australia.

The works involved include construction services for a range of new build and refurbishment of existing health centre solutions. It will include demolition of some existing health centres.

The existing health centre is located at RAAF Base Townsville, and will be decommissioned, and a new health centre will be constructed over the existing Airmen’s Mess based on a fully documented design. As part of the construction, the Airmen’s mess will be demolished, as well as existing ablutions adjacent to the Spotless building. The new build will be a single storey building at approximately 1000m2. It will be a steel framed structure with a steel roof and will include services and finishes typical of modern health facilities. Existing facilities will continue to operate and the existing health centre will only be demolished upon completion of the new health centre. The contractor will be responsible for protecting the existing operational health centre whilst demolition and construction works are in progress. It will be a comprehensive modern health facility similar to a General Practice Super-Clinic.
