Due to a legislative and machinery of government change, State Government Security transitioned from the Public Safety Business Agency (PSBA) to the Queensland Police Service (QPS) to become Protective Services within QPS Operations Support Command.

Protective Services operations include a communication operations room (COR) which monitors approximately 2250 alarms across Qld and northern NSW for over 2000 government clients and 200 private clients. Protective Services also provide a mobile patrol service operating from 6.00pm to 6.00am, Monday to Friday and 24 hours on weekends and school holidays. They also provide static guards at over 50 government locations across the state.
