Collection and Transport of Public Litter and Illegal Dumping to the Byron Resource Recovery Centre

⁠⁠⁠Byron Shire Council is seeking quotes from suitably qualified Contractors for the collection and transport of public litter and illegal dumping from Council owned and managed land for disposal at its Byron Resource Recovery Centre (BRRC), located at 115 Manse Road, Myocum.

Byron Shire Council receives approximately 150 tonnes of illegally dumped waste per annum that requires collection and transport to the BRRC. It is anticipated that the annual volume of material to be removed may be reduced over the period of the contract as a result of the illegal dumping prevention program; however there is no guarantee on the volumes.

Illegal dumping occurs Shire wide, however major hotspots include; Byron Bay Central, Byron Bay Industrial, Suffolk Park, Ocean Shores, South Golden Beach, Brunswick Heads and Mullumbimby.

On average the removal/collection of illegal dumping is currently undertaken 2-3 days per fortnight in the high season, and less in the low season. Illegal dumping is sporadic and unpredictable.

The collection of illegally dumped waste is to be achieved by the contractor providing the required number of suitably qualified human resources, plant and equipment, and transporting it to the Byron Resource Recovery Centre on an as-needed by Council basis.

The successful contractor will be engaged for a period of one (1) year with the option to extend the contract for a further one (1) year by one (1) year period, not exceeding three (3) years in total.
