Overall Preliminary Site Designs for Gympie Sports Precincts

⁠⁠⁠Council is calling tenders from suitably qualified and experienced consultants to undertake the overall detailed site designs in accordance with the Council endorsed Master Plans for the Albert Park and One Mile sporting precincts in Gympie. This includes addressing key issues associated with accommodating Master Plan elements at each facility, as well as resolving the future of the grandstand at Albert Park.

The purpose of the call for tenders is to identify consultancy services for the preparation of preliminary detailed site design documentation for the whole of these two sites. The preliminary detailed site design should take into consideration the following:
* Intent and direction of the previously endorsed Albert Park and One Mile Sport Precinct Master Plans, conceptual design elements and action plans contained therein;
* Works to date;
* Existing site constraints including but not necessarily limited to: buildings; fencing; site boundaries; irrigation; internal roadways/accesses/carparks; lighting; other infrastructure such as pump stations/power supply locations etc. This should give specific consideration to the existing structural integrity of the Albert Park Grandstand and consideration for the possible future re-use of this space should an alternative solution be beneficial. This needs to be considered in the context that when Council adopted the Master Plan for Albert Park, it also resolved to investigate the appropriateness and condition of the current Albert Park Grandstand to meet the needs of users and spectators into the future, including exploring the feasibility of alternative options;
* Relevant considerations into the future including, but not necessarily limited to: sporting fields and playing surfaces of sufficient dimensions to comply with relevant state and national level standards; drainage, gradient and cross-fall considerations; sporting facility requirements for ancillary facilities such as amenities, change rooms, spectator facilities and other anticipated provisions on site;
* An overall revised cost estimate further to that included in the Master Plans with a 20% contingency incorporated for each facility.

Delivery of preliminary detailed design should ensure layouts and the standard of sports related infrastructure meets state sporting requirements and allows for hosting of respective competitions. Additional levels of detail should ensure future detailed design for staged implementation can be undertaken with confidence and accurately costed as informed by preliminary detailed design outputs.
