The Nimmie Caira Stock and Domestic Water Supply Scheme is located south of the Sturt Highway between the towns of Maude and Balranald. The supply of stock and nonpotable domestic water is to the entire Nimmie Caira property; an area of approximately 86,100 hectares.

The proposed works will consist of:
* A river pump station located 2.5km south of Maude on Maude Road extracting water from the Murrumbidgee River under basic landholder rights.
* A reticulated pipeline network of approximately 400km of high density polyethylene pipe (varying sizes) will distribute water to 142 poly tanks (23KL) and stock troughs.
* Two booster pump stations will be located along the scheme. The scheme will be designed to deliver approximately 800,000 L/day. A stocking rate of 1 dse/ha will be assumed for the design, which is slightly higher than the long term average stocking rate historically applied by Local Land Services and the Soil Conservation Service.
