Rex Creek and Whyanbeel Intake Upgrades

⁠⁠⁠2018-079-081 - Douglas Shire Council (DSC) have engaged professional services to provide the detailed design for the upgrades of the Rex Creek Water Intake and Whyanbeel Water Intake. The aim of this upgrade is to improve the quality and performance of the overall system and create a safe working environment for operations staff. The Design drawings nominate a possible construction sequence and the Contractor shall provide their own sequence of works to suit their construction methodology.

The Construction activities shall include but is not limited to the following:
Site establishment/disestablishment;
Environmental management within Wet Tropics;
Survey and Setting out of the works

Rex Creek Intake Upgrade:
* Liaise with DSC WTP operations for bypassing methodology and logistics
* Maintain Raw water supply to the WTP during the works (Bypassing)
* Supply of materials;
* Demolition works of existing unused features;
* Install new proprietary hyperbolic intake screens
* Construct new concrete overflow channel;
* Refurbish\re-purpose the existing inlet box and valve box
* Construct new concrete elements
* Install new pipework;
* Install new access stairs and handrails;

Whyanbeel Intake Upgrade
* Maintain Raw water supply to the WTP during the works
* Supply of materials
* Install new proprietary fabricated intake screen;
* Line intake channel with S.S. liner;
* Repair concrete weir wall leak;
* Repair leaking redundant inlet pipe;
* Remove redundant bolts from weir spillway;
* Excavate for new overflow chute;
* Supply and install new concrete overflow chute and grating;
* Supply and install new stop board to inlet channel;
* Relocate existing switchboard and re-commission
* Concrete infill old return chute channel

Reinstatement; and

Preparation and supply of hard copy and electronic copy of the As Constructed drawings in accordance with DSC requirements.
