Tender Description
The NSW Government is funding the $450 million upgrade of the Princes Highway between Berry and Bomaderry. Roads and Maritime will manage delivery of the project and has engaged Downer Seymour Whyte Joint venture to construct the upgrade.
The work site is approximately 30kms from Kiama by vehicle. The works is constructed within and upon existing roads and are to be constructed adjacent to live traffic. The works is to be carried out with minimal disruption to motorists. Traffic management will be a major feature of the construction and will be staged to minimise the impacts to traffic flow on the Princes Highway and connecting roads.
Features of work includes:
10.5 kms of upgraded Princes Highway to a four lane divided road with a with a wide central median including "slip" lanes and upgrades to intersecting streets and roads.
Inter changes at the intersections with the Princess Highway and:
* Jaspers Brush Road / Strongs Road,
* Morshels Lane / devitts Lane and
* Pestells Lane / Meroo Road.
Existing Bridges and significant culverts will be demolished and replaced with new bridges/culverts.
Construction of the following new bridges at:
* Abernethys Creek,
* Devitts Creek,
* Flying Fox Creek,
* Twin bridges at Jaspers Brush Creek,
* Pestells Lane,
* Strongs Road,
* Tandingulla Creek,
* Tullian Creek,
* Wileys Creek overflow,
Provision of bridge sized culverts
Designated turning lanes at some intersections.
Construction of a heavy vehicle inspection bay in the vicinity of O'Keefes Lane including Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
The project will commence construction in mid 2018 and is due for completion late 2022, weather permitting.
