Byron Shire Council is seeking Lump Sum tenders from suitably qualified and experienced parties for the construction of a new water main cross-connection between two existing Council water mains and associated works between Butler Street and Jonson Street, Byron Bay.

The route crosses the following land:
* Butler Street Road Reserve (Council land).
* Transport for NSW/ John Holland Rail Country Regional Network (TfNSW/JHRCRN) land, including the Railway Hotel Car Park;
* Railway Conservation Area (State Heritage Register Item); and
* Jonson Street Road Reserve (Council land);

The proposed construction of the water main cross-connection will improve reliability of the existing water network, as the proposed works will facilitate a second feed into the Byron Bay central business district (CBD) and also provide sustained pressure for the Burns Street and Skinners Shoot precinct.

The proposed 100mm HDPE PN12.5 water main will connect the existing 150mm MPVC water main pipe on Butler Street to the existing 150mm AC water main pipe on Jonson Street over a distance of 258m.
