Alcohol and Drug Residential and Low Medical Withdrawal Beds in the South West Region of Western Australia

⁠⁠⁠The Mental Health Commission (MHC) is seeking to expand the number of beds in the South West of Western Australia by up to three (3) low medical withdrawal/stabilisation beds and up to 30 residential alcohol and drug treatment beds. The beds will complement and build on the existing system of AOD treatment and support services across the State.

It is the intention of the MHC to purchase a mix of services targeting Aboriginal people, youth and adults. The provision of services specifically catering for Aboriginal people or youth may be achieved by the provision of dedicated beds within a larger service or by developing a standalone service specifically for the target group.

There is no capital funding available for these beds and it is expected that service will be able to commence operation from 1 January 2019 with the possibility to negotiate an operational start date up to 30 June 2019 if required. The MHC will consider practical, flexible and innovative solutions that will improve access to residential services in the South West.
