Hummock Tower Refurbishment

⁠⁠⁠Queensland Rail requires the refurbishment of the Hummock QR Telecoms Tower located in Qunaba, East of Bundaberg.

The tower is a lattice structure with steel angle members forming the structural elements. It consists of 10 bays along the height of the structure, with plan bracing between each of these. There are four (4) access platforms, at Level 5, 6, 7 and 9.

The original tower was constructed in 1986 with its elements hot dip galvanised. It currently supports antennas providing various critical services for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Police and the Principal.

The Principal commissioned a detailed structural assessment of the tower to reinstate its structural and durability integrity. It has since been decided that the tower is likely to be removed or demolished in 10 to 15 years’ time and does not require the full extent of refurbishment as detailed in the report.

The Principal is seeking competitive tender responses from experienced Contractors that can assess the condition of the tower and propose a solution to repair critical structural elements and provide other treatments (e.g. coatings) to extend the life of the tower with minimal regular maintenance interventions.

From there the Tenderer will need to determine if they would like to proceed to a Tender response.

In order to submit a Tender response, Tenderers will have to register to the SAP Ariba eSourcing system by sending an email to the Contact Officer.

If the Tenderer elects to submit a Tender response, they must do so by using Queensland Rail’s online tendering tool (SAP Ariba eSourcing). All Tender responses will be required to be submitted through the eSourcing system not the QTender website. Responses submitted through QTenders may be deemed as non-conforming.
