The City of Hobart (The Council) is currently progressing the implementation of a plan to upgrade the lighting at all the sports grounds under its control to meet the Australia Standards. Council has allocated funding to upgrade the lighting at the Soldiers Memorial Oval and neighbouring Domain Crossroads Oval to meet the Australian Standard for training to minimum of 100 Lux.

Soldiers Memorial Oval currently has two steel poles at the Southern end of the oval, with no playing surface lighting at the Domain Crossroads Oval. It is proposed to decommission and replace these poles and for new playing surface lighting to be installed at the two grounds to meet the 100 Lux minimum standard for training.
