SPS4001 - This contract is for the conversion of a dry well into wet well at Byron Shire Council’s Sewerage Pumping Station SPS4001 in Stuart Street Mullumbimby and the construction of 1,055m of DN225 HDPE rising main along Stuart Street and Train Street.
SPS4001 is located on the east side of Stuart Street approximately 40m south of the intersection with of Fern Street. The dry well has an internal diameter of 2.5m and is surrounded by an annular wet well with an internal diameter of 5.5m. Floor levels in the wet well vary and the floor in the dry well is 9.9m below the surface level.
Works will include the provision of bypass pumping for the duration of the SPS modification works. Reliable pumping equipment with the capacity to pump a minimum of 26 l/s must be used while modification work takes place.
The building, pumps and pipes will be removed from the station and taken from the site. The existing switchboard will be retained and reused.
Converting the dry well will include drilling core holes through the wall between the wet and dry wells to create a single wet well, forming a new base and constructing a new valve pit. All Internal concrete surface must be inspected by the contractor and made good before an epoxy coating is applied.
New pump sets, pipework, valves, pit lids and odour control equipment will be supplied and installed as part of the works.
A new rising main, SRM4001, will connect SP4001 to a manhole in Train Street, Mullumbimby. SRM4001 will be a DN225 HDPE PE100 PN16 (SDR13.6) pipe located in the road reserves of Stuart Street and Train Street. The main will be constructed using both horizontal drilling and open cut trenching methods and the connection in Train Street will be to a live sewer.
