Beehive Placement at Kaipaitangata Forest on behalf of Carteron District Council

⁠⁠⁠Carterton District Council are seeking tender responses from suitably qualified apiary businesses wishing to place beehives on the Kaipaitangata Forest for Manuka / bush pasture honey production, to provide a commercial return to CDC.

The site is approximately 265Ha, with a combination of pine and scrub with approx. 26Ha of planted manuka (2016). The site is located on the eastern side of the Tararua ranges.

The intended term for the new agreement is for 3 years commencing 01/07/2018.

It is estimated the forest has capacity for approximately 72 hives.

CDC are intending on granting the successful respondent an exclusive license to access the property for the agreed term, for the purpose of placing hives on the property.
