Tender Description
The North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) requires the provision of transport services of Dangerous Goods for PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA (PathWest) from a supplier with demonstrated experience and organisational capacity.
PathWest requires biological and infectious samples/isolates to be transported interstate and internationally on a regular basis to provide specialist pathology care to the public of Western Australia.
The majority of tests referred interstate and internationally are time and temperature critical which requires PathWest to have a reliable transport service in place.
On average PathWest sends approximately one hundred (100) packages per month interstate and approximately two (2) packages per month internationally classed as Dangerous Goods – Biological Substances, with the following descriptions:
* UN3373 - Biological Substance Category B (chilled);
* UN3373 - Biological Substance Category B (frozen);
* UN2814 - Infectious Substance, affecting humans (ambient); and
* UN2814 - Infectious Substance, affecting humans (frozen).
UN3373 can comprise of (but not limited to):
* Blood; and
* Tissue or tissue fluids.
