Murrumbateman, Bowning, Bookham and Binalong Flood Study

The major objective is the preparation of a comprehensive flood study for the four villages (Murrumbateman, Bowning, Bookham and Binalong) in Yass Valley LGA.

The study will inform the Council to make future planning and infrastructure provision decisions in those villages, by identification of flood risks, liabilities and potential economic losses. The study will also enable Emergency Authorities to make informed decisions with respect to flood planning matters.

This study will identify the areas with potential flood hazard and will define the Flood Planning Area (FPA) that will enable Council to plan the future development that is compatible with the potential risk associated with flood in those villages.

It will also allow the next stage of FRM Process to occur i.e. The Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan by defining the associated flood risks and allowing the assessment of different flood mitigation options as well as the development of emergency response measures.
