Tender Description
The Queensland State Government, through the Department of Innovation, Tourism Industry Development and the Commonwealth Games (DITID), wishes to supply power and water to Great Keppel Island (GKI) which is located in the Southern Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of Yeppoon in Queensland, Australia.
One of the options being considered is to install a submarine HV connection from the mainland near Yeppoon across the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park to GKI. The Project is currently in final feasibility phase with a plan for construction works to be completed and the services operation by mid 2020.
This RFI, for the potential supply (and transport) including testing, of the HV subsea cable, forms part of the business case to confirm the feasibility of the proposed submarine connection option.
