Supply of Equipment for Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre at Newcastle TAFE

⁠⁠⁠The Hunter Region is experiencing enormous growth in competitive manufacturing due to advances in technology.

There are no facilities available for up skilling workers in current globally competitive   manufacturing technologies. As a result, local companies are sending their workers internationally and interstate for training in this area.

The purpose of this project is to enable the construction of a Manufacturing Technology centre with the capability to replicate Advanced Manufacturing processes. This will provide the scope to enrich learning outcomes for students including but not limited to the following areas:

• Lean Manufacturing
• Process Control
• Fluid Power
• Mechanical
• Automation
• Electronics
• Safety
• Quality Assurance
• Science

Newcastle Campus, Room C.G.07 has been identified as being suitable for the construction of a Manufacturing Technology Centre. This room is large enough to house necessary equipment in such a way that it will be safe, functional, ergonomic, and present opportunities for impressive showcasing of technology to industry, schools, the public and VIP’s. It is proposed that the room will be cleaned out and renovated in preparation for assembly and installation of new equipment and facilities.

Physical items to be incorporated into the facility include but are not limited to process control, automated manufacturing, robotics and instrumentation devices. These items are industry standard production ready, and can operate as a fully functional integrated process plant or as stand-alone representations of specific facets of Advanced Manufacturing.

Successful implementation of the Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility will enable Hunter TAFE to provide training in many facets of Advanced Manufacturing and provide training opportunities to businesses who would otherwise send their workers to alternative training organisations interstate or internationally
