The Department of Environment and Science (DES) is developing a strategic policy framework to drive sustainability outcomes across government, business and industry in Queensland. This framework is needed to establish a clear government role and objectives for sustainability that can guide and link existing efforts, and identify gaps in policies and programs and options to fill those gaps. It will also recognise the strong industry and community momentum around sustainability issues as a key driver for this work.

The project deliverable will be a report that outlines options and approaches to defining a sustainability framework for Queensland, along with the supporting rationale and evidence for that framework. The report will map and analyse the Queensland Government’s existing sustainability activities, and those of other Australian and international jurisdictions.
