Tender Description

The Naval Store located at 141 Queen Victoria Street, Fremantle was a former storage facility for the Australian military with a strong association with the Artillery Barracks and coastal defence prior to World War Two. The building was constructed in 1935 and has cultural heritage significance with much of the original building fabric intact and the original gantry rails and equipment still extant internally.

It is a symmetrical two storey building in the Inter-War style with gabled ends, rendered brick walls, steel structure and high level windows. The ancillary building to its west is not included in this scope of work.

The building is in need of conservation to address the ongoing deterioration due to weather, age and vandalism. In addition, the building's classification will change from a Class 7 store facility and adapted to Class 9b, 5 and 6 for use as a restaurant, workshops, office and climbing gym. The final fitout works will be carried out by others and not included in this scope of work.

Further information about the requirement can be found in the documents attached to this request.
