Fairfield City Council is seeking tenders from organisation(s) that have appropriate certifications, qualifications, capacity, experience and a high standard of capability who can deliver the best value for money for the Design and Construct of Smithfield Rd Upgrade.

Smithfield Road will be upgraded to accommodate four lanes of traffic; and the works include but are not limited to the design and construction of road widening (kerb, gutter and pavement), island relocations, retaining walls, installation of new or upgrading traffic signals, relocation and/or upgrade of utility services and drainage services, line marking, sign posting and minor landscaping.

The interested tenderers must be pre-qualified under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts at Category R4 or higher to undertake the upgrade of Smithfield Rd between Elizabeth Dr and Polding St.

It is a requirement of this project that any persons contracted to undertake the building work be accredited under the Work Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme, established by the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) Act 2016, at the time of entering into the contract for the building work and maintains accreditation while the building work is being carried out.

The builder must comply with all conditions of Scheme accreditation and the National Construction Code performance requirements in relation to building materials.

Section 26(1)(f) of the Fair Work (Building Industry - Accreditation Scheme) Regulation 2016 outlines provisions applying to joint venture arrangements that include accredited and unaccredited builders.

The Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Work 2016 applies to the building work associated with this project. By submitting an expression of interest in, or tender for, this project, you will become subject to the Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Work 2016

A non-mandatory briefing session will be held Tuesday 13 February 2018 at 10:00am, Room 5 FCC Administration building 86 Avoca Rd Wakeley to present key elements pertaining to the statement of requirement, proposed contract requirements and a brief overview of the lodgement of the tender.

All potential respondents are strongly encouraged to attend the Briefing session.
