Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠The Australian and Tasmania Governments are co-investing a total of $119.6 million of infrastructure investment funding in the Tasmanian Freight Rail Revitalisation Program that will see priority sections of the Tasmanian Rail Network upgraded over the four years to 30 June 2019.

Requsest For Tender- IIP Ballast Renewal with Associated Rail, Sleeper and Drainage Works

Closing date: 16 January 2018 at 3pm

TasRail is currently seeking the services of experienced, qualified and competent Contractor(s), with rail works experience and Road Rail vehicles. Work includes treatment of unsuitable ballast and associated sleeper, rail and drainage works at numerous small worksites on the South Line (Conara to Clarendon) commencing February 2018.

Key Point of Tender:
* Knowledge, experience and understanding in the replacement of rail, sleepers and ballast;
* Attendance at site inspections (a maximum of two attendees per Tender) -12 December 2017;
* Works are planned to commence in early February 2018;
* Timetabled rail traffic is not to be impacted by the construction works;
* Tenders are to demonstrate their support of Tasmanian industry and businesses; and
* Compliance with the Building Code 2016, the Australian Government Building and Construction Workplace Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme, Rail Safety National Law (Tasmania) Act 2012 and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and other relevant regulations.

Works to be performed under this contract may be classed as rail safety work as prescribed by Rail Safety National Law (Tasmania) 2012 and as such employees and/or contractors performing such works must be able to meet and maintain the medical criteria for a safety critical worker health assessment (category 1, 2 or 3) as prescribed by the National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers.
