The Commission is seeking a platform which will enable it to develop a new interactive atlas capability to empower more users to engage with the content and stimulate analysis of data at local levels. The new interactive atlas will continue to provide access to the full range of content from the printed atlases, with the following improved interactivity:

* The ability to find and explore the information of interest by atlas edition, theme, data item, location, year/time or by a simple “Google style” search
* Easy access to the narrative content of the atlases
* The ability to explore the available data by chart and map, including the ability to vary the types and content of the charts and maps to focus on and highlight aspects of specific interest using innovative ways of presenting data
* The ability to generate reports from the data, maps and charts and to download the data for offline analysis
* The provision of links to a wide range of relevant resources and information to enable users to explore an area in more detail.

The Commission is seeking to develop a platform that markedly extends the capability and functionality of the existing interactive solution and does so in innovative, creative and meaningful ways that provide users with greater insights and abilities to use the information and data to aid their enterprises. It is envisaged that much of this enhancement would particularly apply to the data visualisation and data analytics.
