TransGrid's Newcastle Regional Centre (NRC) houses the offices for TransGrid's Newcastle based staff as well as the alternate Network Control Centre and the SCADA gateway for Substations and Generators in Northern NSW. This installation supports the delivery of work to 27 substations and repeater sites and provides one third of the entire state-wide TransGrid SCADA data and is the duplicated compliment to the Control Room installation at Sydney West.
The centre is currently supplied by 2 off 11kV underground cables from Ausgrid's Waratah STS. The cables are owned and operated by TransGrid and feed two 11kV/415V transformers installed for the dedicated purpose of supply to the centre.
AusGrid are currently undertaking refurbishment works at their Waratah STS and as a result a change in supply arrangements is available to enable direct 400V supplies to the centre fed from TransGrid's Waratah West (WRH) 330kV Substation auxiliary supplies.
