Tender Details
Tender Description
The TPRC is seeking tender submissions from Artists for public art commission(s) to design, produce and install artwork within the Catalina Beach and Catalina Central Precincts. The TPRC has a budget of $150,000 for the procurement, including the design, approval and installation of one (or more) public art piece(s).
Artists wishing to submit a te nder should provide a written submission that individually addresses each component of the selection criteria. In addition, Artists should submit concept design drawings and/or sketches (maximum of 6 drawings) of the proposed artwork concepts.
Artists are encouraged to submit tenders reflecting the direction and themes provided by the Catalina Public Art Strategy (which can be accessed from the TPRC website www.tamalapark.wa.gov.au or via hyper link CatalinaPublicArtStrategy).
The artwork(s) are to be positioned in public open space areas within the Estate, with a number of key locations identified in the Catalina Public Art Strategy. The preferred locations shall be selected by the TPRC and will be based on art work concepts presented and the number of pieces to be approved by the TPRC. Annexure E identifies potential suitable locations for artworks. The artists may wish to consider the locations identified when preparing their tender submission.
As the artworks will be located within the public domain, Artists must consider public safety in all aspects of the design. Examples of issues to be considered include, but are not limited to: climbability, sharp edges and protruding objects. Any submissions considered to represent a danger to public safety will not be considered in the assessment of submissions.
As far as possible, the works should be resistant to vandalism and suitably durable to resist all weather conditions with minimal ongoing maintenance costs to the City of Wanneroo who will ultimately take ownership of the public art.
