Kellevie Road Bridge - Bridge Replacement

⁠⁠⁠The Contract is for all works associated with the construction of a new single lane, single span concrete bridge located on Kellevie Road as detailed on the attached drawings, and specified herein, including all labour, materials and equipment. A 900 dia pipe culvert was installed in 2008 as a replacement for an existing timber bridge. It was subsequently observed that the pipe was under capacity for peak flows and overtopping of the road during flood was observed on at least one occasion (see cover photo). The previous timber bridge was supported on concrete abutments. These abutments are still in place, albeit, buried. They have been deemed by the Sorell Council as suitable to be incorporated into the new structure.

The Contractor can submit a proposal for an alternative deck design if preferred. If an alternative deck design is accepted, the Contractor will be required to provide certification by an experienced Bridge Engineer for the alternative deck design prior to commencement of any site works. Note an experienced Bridge Engineer shall be an engineer specialising in bridge design, eligible for membership of Engineers Australia and the holder of a Professional Indemnity Insurance Policy to the value of $10,000,000.

The Works include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following items:
* Set out works and confirm dimensions;
* Traffic management including all temporary barriers and signage
* Removal from site of the existing pipe culvert and expose the previous concrete abutments
* Form new channel and install rock spalls including geotextile
* Supply, deliver and install precast abutment packers
* Supply, deliver and erect precast deck panels.
* Install armour rock including geotextile
* Supply, place and compact red gravel to the road approaches
* Supply and install barrier fences including terminals
* Clean up of site;
* Twelve months rectification of defects after Practical Completion
