Tender Description
The NSW Shark Management Strategy is managed by the NSW Department of Primary Industries (Fisheries) and is designed to increase protection for bathers from shark interactions while minimising harm to sharks or other animals. As part of the Strategy, recent trials of SMART drumlines have indicated their effectiveness at catching target sharks with low mortalities and minimal bycatch of other species. The NSW Government is now seeking to expand the SMART drumline trial to five other regions of NSW, each for a 6 month period.
The program is split into five regions (contractors are encouraged to apply to deliver services to one or more of these regions):
Byron Bay to Broken Head (14 August 2017 to 13 February 2018)
Coffs Harbour to Sawtell (14 August 2017 to 13 February 2018)
Tuncurry/Forster (14 August 2017 to 13 February 2018)
Kiama to Shell Cove (1 November 2017 to 30 April 2018)
Ulladulla to Narrawallee (1 November 2017 to 30 April 2018)
