Lead Carrier for In Tunnel Carrier Mobile Telephone System and Provision of Carrier Design Review Service

In today’s digital age of 4G technology, mobile devices are becoming the preferred means of communication. Therefore, impacts to mobile phone usage inside the Forrestfield Airport Link (FAL) tunnels can lead to reduced patronage for the FAL train services, as passengers will expect full mobile data service from day one.

As such the Forrest field Airport Link (FAL) Project makes provision for mobile phone carrier coverage inside the tunnels and underground stations through the deployment of a leaky feeder inside the tunnel and a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) within the underground stations.

The leaky feeder and DAS collectively form part of the Carrier Mobile Telephone System (CMTS). The FAL project requires a Lead Carrier to provide a source mobile phone carrier signal for the Carrier Mobile Telephone System (CMTS) to radiate and distribute underground so that passengers can connect to at least one commercial carrier mobile telephone communication network through the CMTS.
