Tender Description

2017-048 - Invitation to Tender Overview
Douglas Shire Council (DSC) have engaged the professional services to provide the detailed design of a sealed Class 1 and an unsealed Class 3 walking trail around the Island Point headland at Port Douglas. The proposed network is aligned with the Port Douglas Waterfront Master Plan (September 2009). The master plan aims to improve the connectivity of the waterfront to the remainder of Port Douglas through a range of accessibility projects. The network will address a number of the key strategic plans of providing improved pedestrian access to Flagstaff Hill, the foreshore and the marina.

The Island Point Trail will link Rex Smeal (Stinger) Park with the Flagstaff Hill Lookout. The trail will also join the existing stairway from Four Mile Beach to the Flagstaff Hill lookout. The total length of main trail will be approximately 1.24 km, incorporating key viewing points to Low Isles, Four Mile Beach and north to the Daintree and Snapper Island. The trail will incorporate a number of natural and built features along the walk.

Stage 2 of the Flagstaff Hill Walking Trail extends from chainage 0 near Rex Smeal Park and links into the Stage 1 trail construction at chainage 795.

The Scope of Works is for the design and construction of viewing platforms and the construction of the walking trail, which may include but not be limited to:
* Site establishment/disestablishment;
* Environmental management;
* Traffic management;
