North Metropolitan TAFE has an established English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) program, which commenced in the mid-1990s. Currently the program delivers to approximately 100 students in any given week. It caters to a diverse student population varying in age from 17 to 70 coming from over 50 countries. Courses accommodate from beginners to advanced levels and include General English, English for Academic Purposes and International English Language Testing Services (IELTS) preparation.
