Tender Description

The Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence at the University of Tasmania (the University), it is the hub for the Fisheries and Aquaculture program, with aquarium facilities, a world-leading Experimental Aquaculture Facility, and the Institute's vessel fleet, all located onsite.

Seawater is presently supplied to IMAS research facilities by an existing seawater pump station and intakes, however feasibility studies commissioned by the University have identified that the existing seawater pump station cannot be easily upgraded to provide a secure seawater supply or provide potential for increased supply should it be required.

The University is improving the security and capacity of seawater research water supply to the site through the construction of a new 400 m3/h seawater pump station and intakes which is to be completed by the end of 2017.

The project will be delivered through two separate contracts:
1. AS4000 IMAS Taroona New Seawater Supply Pump Station, Construction of Seawater Pump Station & Delivery Systems.
2. AS4902 IMAS Taroona New Seawater Supply Pump Station, Design & Construction of Seawater Supply Intakes (this Project).

The project is the provision of a three pipe sea water suction line with self-cleaning intake screens from bathymetric level, 13.5 m AHD to the new pump station, approx. 458 m long at the IMAS Taroona facility.

ALL communication regarding this project must be directed via the Tenderlink online forum, for this project.

There is to be no direct communication with any organisation named in any part of the tender.

Site Inspection at 2.00 pm 6 April 2017 at 47 Nubeena Crescent, Taroona (Eastern end of Nubeena Crescent at boom gate near old Taroona WWTP). Tenderers intending to attend should advise their intention via the online forum.

Tenderers are advised that they must submit their tender in the specified format.
