Tender Description

Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) is seeking expressions of interest from individuals, organisations or project teams with the capability to undertake in-depth review of defined global trends that have the potential to impact Australian red meat industry and foods for tomorrow.

MLA has recently completed scoping papers on trends for the domestic market such as Convenience (snackification) and Active Ageing (Seniors) as part of Insights2Innovation program.

The specific trends that have now been identified where investable global opportunity spaces and innovation strategies require planning are:
* Preventative health and wellness: functional properties of red meat (and its components) and their role in preventative health and wellness against chronic health conditions and consumer demand for improved/maintained wellbeing.
* Emerging diets: this goes beyond fad diets and nutritional trends to encompass a holistic approach to identifying the drivers and influencers of dietary behaviours and consumer motivations resulting in the rise of different dietary choices (e.g. flexitarian, paleo, raw food etc) and emerging opportunities for Australian red meat industry
* Emerging Food Delivery Modes: Disruption in the food space is along the whole value chain including the final (“last mile”) delivery method to the consumer. New ways of purchasing / merchandising / ordering / delivering food are changing the way consumers shop and interface with digital platforms in particular. Understanding the fundamental reasons, gaps and potential growth opportunities for red meat services is to be reported.
