Tender Description

Melbourne Metro Rail Authority (MMRA) has made strong commitments to sustainable triple bottom line (social, environmental and economic) outcomes for the Metro Tunnel project construction and operations, including a Sustainability Target to reduce Portland cement content by a minimum 36% measured by mass across all concrete used in the project compared to the GBCA reference mix.

In order to meet the above target and to assist work package proponents throughout the tender phase, MMRA is seeking concrete mix designs from local industry as detailed in the attached report Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCM): Information for Suppliers. The purpose of this document is to provide concrete suppliers with background information on MMRAs Portland cement reduction target to enable them to prepare appropriately for market demand during the delivery of the Metro Tunnel project. It provides preliminary mix design information prepared by MMRAs technical advisor, Aurecon Jacobs Mott MacDonald Joint Venture (AJM JV), that meets MMRAs sustainability target.

Concrete suppliers are requested to prepare and provide appropriate mix designs and associated information to MMRA. This information will then be provided to the Metro Tunnel work package proponents for their information during the project tender and pricing periods. Suppliers may choose to supply some or all the mix types required by the work package proponents.

Submissions and enquiries are to be directed to Damien Kennedy (MMRA) at (03) 9655 6996 or damien.kennedy@melbournemetro.vic.gov.au

Please Note - it is important that you read the Document attached to this Work Package titled 'MM Supplementary Cementitious Materials - Information Brief for Suppliers' and respond to MMRA directly rather than doing an ROI on ICN Gateway.
