Upgrade Skatepark: Market Square, Naracoorte

⁠⁠⁠201617-12 - Naracoorte Lucindale Council invites tenders for the upgrade of its skatepark at Market Square in Naracoorte, South Australia.

This project is for the upgrade of the skatepark at Naracoorte’s Market Square. Market Square is located on MacDonnell Street, Naracoorte.

Market Square is designated as a Neighbourhood Park in Council’s Open Space Strategy, but has strong use from visitors to the region due to its proximity to the Naracoorte Visitor Information Centre. The park is heavily utilised for informal sporting activities (basketball, football and netball) and structured recreation activities on a skatepark and playground.

Council undertook extensive community consultation in 2013/14 and developed a master plan for the park, which includes the development of a larger more user friendly skatepark to replace the aging infrastructure currently in place. The community view Market Square as a park for children to have fun, for families to enjoy a barbeque and as a rest stop for tourists.

This project is a key stage of Council’s development of the park as a major community asset.
